This will be my first winter in Taiwan and I am curious if winter camps happen here. They have already started advertising for such up in Korea, but i really do not want to go back the land of cabbage and radishes. If camps don't really happen here, anyone want to take January off?

Check out American Language Village. Do a search of this forum and you will get all the info you need.

OK. I just gave you some good info so how 'bout returning the favor'Question'

I would appreciate some info on winter camps in Korea. My real-world job goes away for pretty much Christmas to March and I get bored easily. Can I find short-term work for any part of this period in Korea? I am in my late 40s and have taught ESL night school for years. Really not a big fan of kids but I can put up with them for a short period of time.

Thanks.

thanks for the info. i had seen them before, but had hoped there was something else out there with a better salary. maybe I will join you in Korea...

They have just started advertising for camps now and will do so thru November. Positions usually start late December or early January. Really, you have your pick of them--from 2-4weeks, uni kids, liitle kids, etc. Some are immersion camps and others are 9am-6pm sort of gigs. The money is generally pretty good. Expect between 700-1,000 US per week. The housing is one area that isnt great as it generally consists of sharing a dorm room with N. Amer alcoholics bouncing from temp job to temp job.

Dave's has a few listings already. You can also check worknplay.co.kr as well as teachenglish.co.kr

As you find offers and have questions regarding location, the pay, visa formalities, etc... just let me know. There are a few places that enjoy screwing you. There are also a few that claim you do not need a special visa... but you do. They have been cracking down on illegals as of late.
