Have things gone mad/crazy in England?
A student, who happens to be a girl, was recently sent to the Police H.Q. in Manchester, England, because she said something which the class teacher interpreted as being highly racist and offensive, when in truth the poor student merely wanted to change groups because the group she was assigned to contained students, none of them able to speak English.
This whole notion of what is ''politically correct'' has gone to such an extreme that the situation is becoming ludicrous. Soon, no one will be able to say anything or anything which ''might'' be construed as offensive.
The idea of p.c. is good in principle, but now it has become farcical.
On a side note, thankfully Turkey is still somewhat free from all those p.c. issues and students are allowed to talk freely in class, unrestrained by the shackles of p.c. and thought police hovering nearby.
Check this out for the full report!

Yes that is why most people want to leave and go and live in Dubai, France, Spain or open a bar in Goa or teach English in Istanbul. |

As long as you don't mention Kurds, Armenians, Orhan Pamuk, Israel/Judaism or anything less than positive about Ataturk, the Turkish State or a man's mother. |

BBC English uesd to be proper English and now it's gone all regional for Northerner's.
"Her mother said her Codie's..." her Codie's! "That's my Codie your talking about!"
"Her Codie's jewellry!" I may be right old-fashioned but she's a bit young for jewellry! |
