| Well just back from the highland games, and as usual after highland games I am thinking I could make a stab at learning the bagpipes if I could find a good teacher locally. So I searched the web and found a place where I could post an enquiry about this. Carefully noted down the address of site so I could find it again. Tried to find it again just to check that I could find it again just in case. Couldn't find it again. I HATE the internet. Don't expect any of you guys know a pipe teacher? OK, thought not. But at least I know where to find daves again and won't waste time looking for answers. Grrh. I should just have asked a person while I was there and saved my time. Nevertheless, any pointers to 'piping in tokyo' would be appreciated by me. I could practice in the nearby big park and not disturb my neighbours too much. Sorry for irrelevant post |

You would be surprised at what you can find in Japan... If I were you, I'd put out a classified ad in either Gaijinpot or one of the other major classified ad sources in Japan (I was asking about this in another thread some months ago -- it contains a few links)...
I was able to find a local kung-fu instructor that just happened to specialize in my particular flavour of kung-fu... And from an excellent lineage to boot! We got hooked up via the local International Centre.... Check to see if your local community has one. They can be VERY useful for stuff like this.
At the moment, I'm in the process of learning the fiddle. Finding a fiddle teacher would be a lot easier than finding a bagpipe teacher but nevertheless, for the time being, I'm teaching myself... I can already play a number of instruments so this is not my first experience learning one. It's SLOW going -- but I can now just about play a scale without causing all the nieghbourhood dogs to howl...
Good luck. |

| Thanks for good comments guys. Actually, realistically, I don't really have time to take up a new thing, but I am still searching the web for pipe teachers in tokyo. Maybe I dont have time, but on the other hand when you reach my age its a good idea to take up some new thing, helps fend off altzheimers. so will keep trying and thanks for your support |
