The new rules that have been in the headlines recently apply

only to people without WPs who do border-runs every 30 days.
If you can get a non Imm-B visa and do a border run every 90 days, have the rules changed with reguards to that?

The only 'new' news I'm aware of is that Immigration

is planning to offer a 3 year Non-Immigrant B Visa,

which will be really nice if it turns out to be true!
If a person who can't get a work permit gets a non imm B visa, is there still a risk of getting into trouble if that person is found teaching at a school that happens to get raided by police one day?

Answer: yes

You could be fined, deported or both -

depends on the connections your school has

with the immigration officers who conduct the raid.

In plain English, a Non-B is not a substitute for a work permit.

Many people do it and get away with it, but you are taking a risk.

That's why I wrote:

Just be sure that the school you agree to work for is offering a WP.

If they beat around the bush when the topic comes up,

thank them politely and head for the door
.
So if this is the case, it's best never to come to Thailand with no University degree due to the fact you can't get a work permit. Am I correct? Or are there still ways around it for those with no degree?

It's possible to get a Work Permit without a degree

but you'll need your school to go to bat for you,

and not all schools are willing to do this.

Having no degree makes it more difficult, but not impossible.

In lieu of a 4 year degree, you should definitely present

a bona-fide 100+ hour TEFL / TESOL certificate.

With a TESOL certificate & strong support

from your school ... it can be done.

Click on the link at the bottom of this post

and scroll way down to APPENDIX B.

FAQ 2.1 goes into more detail.
Do you know any schools off the top of your head that will do this? Also, if I have one year of experience in China and have a good reference, would that also help? And is it still a wise idea to walk into the country on a tourist visa first and hit the pavement?
