Planning to stay in Doha for my first Eid here, any ideas on interesting things to do? Have not have much time to wander around Doha since arriving a few weeks ago. Any suggestions welcome.

Eat.

Go watch the Indians line up at the exchange offices.

Get a road map and try to match up what you see on the map with what you see through your windshield.

Try to start a conversation about "the Olympics", just to see who's interested.

Call for a Karwa taxi and wait for it to arrive.

That ought to keep you busy for a while.

One would think BD was jaded or something.

My first thought was read and surf the net... but eating was another good addition.

Now where is Qatarchic to tell us if anything is happening that old married folk may not know about. Cool Where has she disappeared to?

I got stuck in Doha in my first Eid (silly me had organised all the right paperwork so I couldn't leave the country:roll: )

I spent my time at the Oasis hotel swimming pool trying to befriend all the miserable oilmen who were too tight to leave for the holiday. So, I would advise against that. I went shopping bought a new laptop and ... well look at the number of posts I have made. Wink
Honestly, don't stay for Eid. Jump on a plane to Sri Lanka or something.... Or you could always try Turkey. Change Eid Mubarak to Iyi Bayramlar Very Happy

oh...dmb is leaving Turkey in 2 days time for a 5 day break to a non Islamic country

Hi VS- hope alls well, have been so busy with studies and what not.
Not much to do here during Eid- most people make the most of the good package deals and scarper!

I would say check out places like the Rugyby Club....hotels, there may be something happening. For the past two Eids I have been out of the country (and plan to do the same this time round as well)

How about exploring the desert ETG? Or maybe go to sealine is it too late for you to book a holiday elsewhere like Oman?

BDs suggestions are funny Laughing but true as for Karwa, did you know you have to book the day before just to get a taxi for the next day?

...but you still never know if it'll show up! You may as well book a bet as book a taxi!

I do find that the so-called "limo" services are more dependable.
