Where/Can you buy EURO travellers cheques in Japan? I have searched google but came back with nothing. I have also searched the threads and there is no information.

Hmm... May be best to call/ask your local bank... I suspect that much like back home, that's the way to do it. In my old bank, the second floor was the "international affairs" section where you could buy/sell foreign currency, open foreign currecy accounts, send money abroad, etc... I'd guess that it would also be the place to get travellers' cheques. But it may also be something that they have to order/bring in for you. They may not have them ready and waiting.

On another note, however. The last time I tried using travellers' cheques in Germany, I vowed never to use them again. Absolutely no one wanted to accept them, not even banks were willing to take them. And the ones that did charged a fee (which they shouldn't have).

But hey.. whatever floats yer boat I guess.. Wink

How about AMEX? I would think you could get some from them and also cash them with them at the other end.

Also you could try travel agencies.

I have to say I am with Jim though, these days it seems like they are not very acceptable. You are better off with an ATM card.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... When I WAS in Germany trying to cash (or use) my traveller's cheques that was the first question I got asked: "Das ist Thomas Cook?" (American Express) And as soon as I said VISA, they said "NEIN!"
