Has anyone had any experience with this school? Had quite a good offer but figure I should check around before i accept.

Yes Sir,

Lingnan is currently going through turmoil due to the mismanagement in the FLD, in particular FT manager Ted Chen.

1. The uncountable breaks of contract in the past to all teachers (i can back up my statements on that one, don't worry).

2. The current situation is, white males are an endangered species at this college. Ted has culled the white males (only one left, but his contract will not be renewed), to be replaced with African, Philipina, and American female teachers. FT's (males) were told that there would be only 2 FT's left at Lingnan this semester, and were asked to leave so that Ted Chen could save the college some money by not having to pay for the summer holidays.

LIES ALL LIES!

Now they are hiring new Philipinas and etc, but only female.
Ted loves Philipina, and young women too.

3. He now has FT's sharing the same floor with noisy female students and their amorous classmates who serenade their Juliets into the late evening. Too bad if your a FT, and you want to sleep.

4. No security. Anyone can come and knock on your door, and they do.
Thieves walk freely on campus.

5. Any complaints, fall on deaf ears. Ted does not allow any contact with Lingnan leaders or other management.

6. From what i was told a FT was assaulted by the finance manager after he complained about his salary not being deposited into his account.

Recommendation: Blacklist until the situation changes/Ted is relieved of his duties.

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAY,AND THEN SOME.
LINGNAN HAS TO BE THE WORST,AND THE DANGEROUS THING IS THAT THEY PRETEND TO LIKE FOREIGNERS,BUT IN PRIVATE,IT'S MORE LIKE HATE (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF YOUNGER FEMALES,WHO GET TED'S UNDIVIDED ATTENTION,EVEN WHEN NOT WANTED) - get IT?
LINGNAN AS A WHOLE IS OK,BUT FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT,FROM TED,THROUGH STEPHEN,TO THE SO CALLED "PRESIDENT" OF THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT TREAT WHITE FOREIGN MALES LIKE DOGS.
MITCH'S INFO THAT FOREIGN TEACHERS NOW LIVE IN SAME AREA AS STUDENTS COMES AS A SUPRISE TO ME,BUT I HAVE JUST CONFIRMED IT TO BE TRUE : THE FLOOR RESERVED FOR FOREIGN TEACHERS IS NOW NOT ONLY INHABITED BY THE FEW FOREIGN TEACHERS THAT LINGNAN MANAGE TO CON INTO WORKING FOR THEM, BUT BY DOZENS OF NOISY STUDENTS. NO SECURITY, NO PEACE. WELL DONE LINGNAN.

Wow TW,
Thanks for digging up that piece on Lingnan,written in CHINADIAN.
I worked with that Guy.A Chinadian with a real chip on his shoulder about "Whitey".Another example of the crazy mis-management by Foreign Language Dept at Lingnan.They appointed this Guy as some sort of go-between for communication from Lingnan to Foreign Teachers and Vice versa.It immediately went to his head,and he called himself "Director of Foreign Teachers" or similar.An absolute disaster,
destroying goodwill between foreign teachers and lingnan.The word ego-maniac springs to mind.
When everyone thought things could get no worse,they got rid of him, and appointed a former very disliked former student leader as boss of Foreign Teachers.I believe the place is Hell to work in now,unless you are a young lady foreign teacher,color unimportant.

TW, that guy who called Lingnan a racist college is the Chinadian, the infamous Philip. Long gone but not forgotten. I wonder where he is now? I'm sure he would love to give his two bobs worth about Lingnan, Steven or Ted.

I know the Filipino FT that Ted Chen is courting at Lingnan is homosexual and uses the alias of Jessica. She often has her female students over in her dormitory when she is not being visited by Ted Chen.

My impression of this whole saga, is that Jessica actually runs the FLD. She hires and fires through Ted Chen. No wonder they are getting rid of male teachers and hiring female non-native speakers, and people that Jessica knows.

FT's are constantly having to deal with problems that arise because Ted Chen is not doing his job properly.

The shambolic Foreign Language Department at Lingnan College has had a wake-up call,as yet un-heeded by the Three Morons who are "running"the Department (Running into the ground would be more apt).
The Two highly qualified female F/Ts who were to start on about October 8,pulled out when they heard the true situation there,and the famous up-start Ted was forced to employ another Filipino (no disrespect meant by me re that nationality),and an elderly Canadian,whose contract Ted had previously refused to renew.This is a sad state of affairs,but of course Ted will cover his ass as usual.
I am reliably informed that the so called "President" of the F/L Dept was forced to change his foolish decision to have female students living among the Foreign Teachers.I emphasise that the Foreign Teachers were forced to live in rooms right next door to the students,on the same floor - no separation whatsoever.I heard that one F/t actually stood on a used condom outside his door (Bad News: Boys were obviously visiting the girls.Good News:They were obviously practicing Safe Sex).
The trio running the F/L Dept ;Ted,Stephen,and the President of the F/L Dept have so far managed to hide their serious blunders and terrible attitude towards Foreign Teachers,especially towards "Whitey",from the Boss of The College,but the clock is ticking away.

It's a private school and one of the crappiest ones at that.

Don't expect the brightest students, either. I have met quite a few people who have worked there at one time or another and absolutely nobody gives it a passing grade. Nobody.
