Are the rumours true?
Are the police really cracking down this year?
Who has the info?

My friend is on the JET program and she got a notice the other day advising JETs to stay clear of the Loop Line Party because the police and JR security will be cracking down. I work for ECC and there was a notice out our schools saying the same thing. Apparently the company got a letter from the police or something.

Not direct information, but it does seem like it might be best to stay away. It's not a formally organised event is it?? As such, I guess it couldn't be cancelled. Just a question of whether or not people show up. I remember it last year. I had just got to Japan and I couldn't believe such a thing was tolerated. Guess it's not.

I went last year and was impressed by how orderly and organized it was. Sure the foreigners were loud, but everyone was contained to a specific part of the platform, and behaving well. Having lived in Japan for a long time, I was expecting drunken-gaijin obnoxious chaos, and I was really happy that I didn't see any. I thought it was a shame that the newspapers reported that the foreigners were harassing commuters and disrupting service. I certainly recommend going at least once, although I wouldn't reccommend staying on for the entire loop. I bailed after 1 station last year.

I'm sure it won't be cancelled this year. They can't stop people from riding the trains, even if they are dressed up in strange costumes.

Last year I actually rode the loop line twice during the party, once around nine and once around last train. The first time it was indeed suprisingly orderly considering the number of people. But around last train it was a bit of a handful. People were obviously quite hammared and in the usual last train rush it didn't work out too well.

I don't know, it's not my cup of tea, so I couldn't care less. But after those arrests in Hiroshima a few months back, it obviously doesn't take much to set the police off if they are intent on making something of it. Even if it's for something that ultimately can't get me in trouble, as long as I'm in Japan hassle with the police just isn't worth it IMO.

We got a notice at our school too. It didn't specify Loop Line Party, just that the Osaka Police ask that we don't do anything illegal this Halloween and not to hang around others that are doing illegal actions. It says they are cracking down this Halloween.
I found it quite funny that the Osaka Police are sending notices to the "Association of Teachers" (or something like that) warning teachers to behave this Halloween.

It's not like the Loop Line stupidness, in costumes and different levels of drunkedness is caused by OL's and salary men. Twisted Evil Everyone knows it's disgruntled NOVA teachers.
