Coming up to the winter vacation and it being my first winter here, I'm trying to work out what people do in Japan in winter. I have already planned to go skiing for 4 days (not a big skiier, so wouldn't really want to go for longer), but what to do with my other 10 days of leave??
Any suggestions are appreciated. (I'm in Osaka).
Cheers.

I'm off to China. It's cheaper to fly out of Japan than it is to travel within I find.

Yeah except where all the flights to where you want to go fill up three months before you even knew you wanted to go there... Mad

I am going to visit friends in Tokyo I think, where it is warm compared to winter here.

Okinawa is nice...although I'm not sure how expensive it would be that time of year.

Weather's not good in Okinawa in the winter. If you want to go in the winter check when the whales are migrating through, unmissable, I think it happens in February?

Best thing to do for winterin Japan is to go to some beautiful ski resorts and check out the worlds best onsen.

some friends of mine are going to the snow festival in Sapporo.

But... I am from Montreal. I have been to Carnivale in Quebec City and let me tell you fun in the snow is overrated. So, last effing thing I want to do in Japan is go see SNOW. Ugh. Came here to get away from that. Well not solely but it was a benefit.

So I'm going to Thailand.
