I know... we used to do these things with maps...
But I'm wondering if i might find any driving directions websites out there for Mexico? In December i'm looking at driving from northern california to the Guaymas/Ciudad Obregon region. I've thought about driving from San Diego to Santa Rosalia, and then taking a ferry across (lets me see the rest of my divided California) to Guaymas.
Anyone made the trip down Baja and then across?
Or know where I can get reliable directions?
Does this sound foolish? |

the best directions I have found are from: http://local.live.com
although to be honest, even the best directions are only helpful if you have the proper signage, which sometimes can be a problem. I also recommend the Guia Roji road map book. It is valuable and has most of the new toll roads on it. It helps if there are any roadblocks or detours along the way. Buena suerte!

What i'm afraid of is taking my eyes off the road for a second and hitting a tope going just a bit too fast...
what's a tope?

Because they're cheaper than hiring a traffic cop - and a lot more reliable! |

| You should see Mexico City. One topo for even 70 metres of road on average. Traffic lights AND traffic cops to go along with it. All this in lieu of driver's ed and it still doesn't work. |

There was a saying in southern Veracruz that asked who came first, the vendors or the topes? The road between San Andres and Alvarado was full of both and it was quite amusing to watch the vendors swarm toward any traffic that had to slow down for the bumps. |

hmm...and I thought it was to keep the tire & muffler guys in business....  |
