Just curious on what you folks enjoy as far as peruvian dishes, i am down in Arequipa, and have been stuffing my face with rocoto relleno and chupes since i been here. Peru has amazing food, but I am starting to feel a little tight around the waistline. |

Ceviche! Rellenos and what is that little side dish called that has potato with a spicy kind of mayonaisse thing drizzled over it? That is good. All the yummy stew dishes are good too.
Inca Kola - haha |

Lomo Saltaldo and Ceviche have to be my favorites. Washed down with a few bottles of Pilsen Trujillo.
How about worst Peruvian food? I nominate Papa de Huancayo which I thought was disgusting, Cuy and Canchas. A portion of Cuy has no meat on it whatsoever, terrible stuff! I found Canchas often served with ceviche, kind of like roasted nuts but they were pretty awful I remember. |

just red your post Bejarano, and the potato with beige sauce is called Papa de Huancayo. The Peruvians go absolutely mad for it though. I don't understand why. |

My favorite Peruvian foods are anticuchos, chicha morada and the potato dishes with yellow sauce. My fiance is Peruvian and I often get the chance to eat Peruvian dishes with her family and at Peruvian celebrations here. I am living and teaching in Mexico City, Mexico and there is a large Peruvian population here, as well as several Peruvian restauraunts. |

Yes, I just tried Ceviche for the first time and it was lovely. Although Ive been eating sushi since I was old enough to feed myself, I never thought I could fit so much raw fish.
Still, the bread is so wonderful here that sometimes a ham and cheese sandwich works just as well. |
