I was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I am currently doing a BEd in Secondary Language Arts Education. It's going really well and my first evaluation says my in-class (teaching) work is "outstanding", "extremely professional" and "extremely impressive". I already have a BA in English, I completed the CELTA in 2004 and I have more than 1200 hours teaching experience (most of which was at an Inlingua HOWEVER I'm confident and competent using other teaching methods, and I'm particularly interested in inquiry-based education).
My university offers term-abroad programs for our last semester (starting in January 2008). The opportunities are very limited: China, Mexico or Japan. I'm not eliminating any of those possibilities, but I would like to look into other options. I am looking for additional opportunities for student teachers that include airfare (at least half), accommodation and a local salary. We are allowed to work twelve hours per week from January to early April and then full-time to the end of our contract (however long that may be). Our work must be education-related (and personally, I would prefer to be in the classroom teaching).
Do you teach/work at a school that accepts international student teachers? Have you taken part in a similar program? Can you point me towards a particular resource?
Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks! |
