I just heard that they changed the laws and visa runs are no longer possible without returning to your home country. In other words, they won't give you another three months tourist visa unless you fly all the way home.
I have a hard time believing this. Can anybody verify? Has anybody made a recent visa run to Bulgaria or somewhere and returned with the full 3 months tourist visa? |

English Crime will be in trouble then. They will have to have their units of production fly cheapo to the UK every 3 months. |

You didn't have to leave the country in the first place. Just go down to see the neighborhood passport polis and they'll sort out your wee blue book without the hassle of a visa run. My mate does it every 3 months. No sweat. Just don't tell them you're working. |

Naah, the yellow mistery won't be that practical. They'll probably make new teachers marry turkish teachers.. or something like that. Maybe smuggle in filipinos or other third world nationals. They'll work for less and put up with more garbage. The last that I heard they were making teachers open bank accounts, depositing the requierd amount in them. Then, said teacher would print out a receipt, and of course return the money. After all that, they would go to the emniyet and get the ikhamets. However, they were still "employment prohibited". ahahahaha |

Sorry people I'm at a loss to understand if one has an ikamet why does one need to make a border run in the first place ?
Does'nt the employer have some some part to play in all this ? |

Ok,I get it ,anyone making a visa run is working illegally any way and if you want a five year residency permit you can buy one as long as you don't have a job and finally the border police have got wise to it and basically all these parasites who work for peanuts at monkeyville language school are gonna get shafted. Gotta be good, innit! |

From a couple teachers that are more in touch with these things than I am. I haven't found anything official online or heard anything except rumors. I don't want to spread untrue rumors, so I'm looking for verification since I'm do for a run next month. |

A friend in Ayvalik did the border run to Lesbos three weeks ago, all was as normal, no problems renewing the tourist visa. |
