Can someone simply spell out the reality regarding paid ESL opportunites in Africa - Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania specifically?

I have researched in the past and my results seems to indicate that with so many volunteers and NGO`s teaching English for free as part of a humanitarian project, paid ESL posts are nonexistent.

Please provide names of schools, average monthly salary, and whether or not a CELTA, TEFL, etc. is needed in addition to a BS degree.

Thanks,

Mr. Milkshake Rolling Eyes [/b]

How hard is it to get a job in South Africa?
What kind of salary would I be looking at?
I don't have a Master's. I have a TEFL degree and a few years experience teaching TEFL.
so what's the reality?

Wrong.

Yes, plenty of NGOs in Africa, but bear in mind there are also plenty of wealthy people, specially in the capital cities, who demand private english schools.
I m currently in Addis Ababa, a esl job/seekers heaven. Sudan has a few, you can be sure that Nairobi and Dar es salaam will be full of them too. That said, forget about internet, 95% of these schools don't post on the net, don't ask me why...
How to do it? Either go there and look for a job (in Addis, in a week, a found 3 different jobs. Not bad for sending out 5 CV's...) or search the net for phonebooks, yellow pages, schools lists, etc..
