Why do people use the forum as a way to represent (at first glance) themselves in a friendly manner, and then suddenly their repressed anger quickly surfaces and rears its ugly head in their follow up responses?
A. Because people are truly angry deep inside and need healing.

Hello.

1. What is the truth re: work permits? Possible? Impossible? Depends? - speaking for Canadian and U.S. passport holders mainly.

2. What is the truth re: job prospects? Need a placement agency? OK without a one?

3. What is the truth re: the culture? Violent and chaotic? Sweet and Latin with some trouble spots?

4. Are Brazilian women really attracted to gringoes who leave a first world country for a less than first world country to work for $500.00 greenbacks monthly? Don`t they see some red flags? Emotional problems? Running from the law? Cannot make it in normal, western society?

Finally.......has anyone thought about trying to either purchase together or rent together a large house or flat that could be used as a base for ESL people needing fellowship and company - as well as for newbies who would like to land in Brazil (for example) with some sense of connection - more than can be offered via a transient, dirty youth hostel? Maybe the government would sponsor such an investment if the flats were upstairs and a language instititute was downstairs. Just an idea.
