has anyone used a recruiter for a job search within japan? i have a friend who spent a lot of time working in korea, and he suggested that i go through a recruiter now that i'm looking for tefl work in japan. does this sound like a good idea? |

Probably not. There are plenty of jobs in Japan (have you tried looking at the websites that advertise for positions available?) and I don't see what advantage there is in spending money on someone else doing a job for you that you could probably do yourself. |

Are you talking about English teaching? If you're talking about jobs in the financial sector or something, I have known people who have found good positions through recruiters. |

I'm guessing Matt 22 is talking about teaching as most of his previous posts have been on finding EFL work in Japan prior to getting a job with JET.
Also, the forum where Matt 22 has chosen to pose the question suggests what industry he's talking about.  |

Well he didn't say. Besides, maybe someone else thinking about contacting a recruiter for another field might click on this thread.  |

I think there are far more jobs in Korea which use recruiters. Korea doesn't have as many large chain schools as Japan does that recruits overseas. Therefore, Korean schools use recruiters. I've never seen ads for Japan asking for 200 teachers, but I have for Korea. |
