Hello Everyone,

Is it possible or acceptable to observe (volunteer) teaching in an ESL school? The reason is Id like to experience the day-to-day activities of living, working and teaching in Mexico prior to attending an ESL Certification course.

I have two BAs (Marketing and CIS) and have been a volunteer Adult ESL teacher in Texas for 8 months. I really enjoy the interaction with my students and it is very satisfying to see them progress.

I am open and flexible to suggestions, alternatives or advice on experiencing teaching ESL in Mexico prior to enrolling in an ESL Certification course. PM me for specific information or requests.

I've been trolling this forum for a while and want to thank everyone for the information provided.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Michael

I think you could do that in most language schools...not sure if it could be done at a private prepa or public school. There might be security concerns there for non-vetted volunteers, but you could always try.

I'm sure that if you ask any of the course providers in Mexico, they can probably set you up with a pre-course volunteer or observation session at an affiliated school or another in their area.
