I stick by what I say. The Uk is a deeply dysfunctional society. Glad that I left all those years ago.

The disturbing thing about the Shipman case is that it revealed a total 'anomie' in Central England. He murdered upwards of 200 elderly people and no one noticed.

What sort of society is that ?

The same sort of society that teaches its members that it is okay to call a stranger STUPID !

I hope you enjoy the poverty of EFLing in Ukania.

People did notice something was wrong, but it was so far from normal in our society that they couldn't conceive it could actually be true.

The poster didn't call you stupid Scot, they called the remark stupid. I won't say more than that. Only that I'm glad such a cynical negative person who I have rarely seen make a positive post on here is not in the UK, as I don't think you'd improve the situation that you are so willing to comment upon.

I don't teach in Ukania, I teach in Irelandania. The money per hour is actually good, though there is a lack of full-time hours, I have another job which helps.

Echoing what Sue said, I did not call you stupid, I said your remark was stupid. It is frightening what happened in the case of Shipman. However, I challenge you (Scot) to tell me what paradise you live in that has never had the bad luck to be cursed by evil like Shipman...

And what evidence, other than Shipman, Sutcliffe et al, do you base this statement on, as I have said every country has had murderers.

Actually, scot, most town centres in the UK are not dominated by "gangs of feral youths and twentysomethings". And, in spite of the bad press they get, most young people are decent and law abiding.

You would do well to take your sweeping generalisations somewhere else.
