Guys,

I'm booking a flight to Mexico on January 3rd (whether or not I land a solid job by then). I will literally be stepping out of the airport with nothing buta suitcase and a map. I have my heart set on teaching in Veracruz (or perhaps Queretaro).

So I'm asking your help:

1. Is anyone here in DF? This is my first TEFL job, and my first time in MX and I'd feel a lot better just being in contact with someone who knows the city.

2. May need to overnight at hotel/hostel. (Thank God for your links in the other post!) Where's the closest/most affordable/most easily accessible from airport?

I'm in DF...happy to offer some assistance.

There are a few inexpensive hotels not far from the airport, but it's unlikely you'd be able to make reservations. Hotels in the airport are too expensive. You might be able to google some of the inexpensive places, or ask at the airport. Otherwise, I will look up a few and PM you the names.

Another option yo have is boarding a bus directly from the airport to wherever you want to go. Overnight rides are common if you're coming in late.

If you planned to stay in DF a couple of days (and you should - it has so much to offer!) head down to the centro historico from the airport and you'll find scads of hotels. Hotel Canada is an inexpensive and comfortable spot.
