I would like to know the inside scoop of private lessons in Santiago, Chile. I will be going to Chile for a long term trip beginning next year. I am an American and can speak Chilean Spanish as my family is from there. I have a Uni degree in Eng. Lit. and 3 years experience in S. Korea. My questions are as follows:

1) Who are the people eagerly learning English? Elementary kids, college students, businesses, etc.?

2) How much do you charge per hour?

3) Do they mainly want to learn speaking or a combination of speaking, writing, etc?

4) How do you avoid cancellations or no-shows?

5) What are some of the books you use in Chile that are geared towards Chilean EFL students?

Thanks in advance.

1) Who are the people eagerly learning English? Elementary kids, college students, businesses, etc.?

Mostly business people, people working in mining or sales.

2) How much do you charge per hour?

$5.000 - $9.000

3) Do they mainly want to learn speaking or a combination of speaking, writing, etc?

Improve their conversational skills mostly.

4) How do you avoid cancellations or no-shows?

I can't. That's why I give private lessons anymore.

5) What are some of the books you use in Chile that are geared towards Chilean EFL students?

I use Interchange and New Interchange.
