You can teach in private schools, your teaching credential will be very attractive to these types of schools. And they tend to pay higher than the language schools with better benefits and working hours. If you get hired while still in the U.S. you can even get some really juicy benefits, like a housing stipend.
Working in government schools is a completely different matter. You'd have to get your studies and credentials validated by SEP (secretaria de educacion publica), and it's a long, complicated, bureaucratic process, and you aren't guaranteed of anything. At the end the type of job you can get is also not very appealing. I don't think they teach English in the elementary government schools but they might in the secondary schools and prepas.
Your best bet is to look at private schools, primarily international schools, ones with IB programs. You can land a really decent job there. |
