On Dave's job board.
Strangely, all the best jobs I've got online, through Dave's.
All others through cold calling and contacts...
Best,
Justin |

Mine through an advert, but since I've had the same job for nearly nine years. I thought I'd comment to add how we hire people. The majority come from adverts on the interent. A few get hired because they cold called at the right time. Several and many the ones who have worked out the best have been through contacts they've made with current or former teachers of ours. A friend one of our current teachers worked with in another country. Or someone one of our former teachers meets in their next country. |

I was studying Spanish at the school where I work. One of the non-mexican English teachers told me that he and other teacher were leaving, so I knew there were two positions available for fall. I then approached the director of the English program about a job. So I'm not sure if that was through a contact or if that counts as 'other', but I chose 'other'. |

About three years ago I complained in the Mexico forum that one almost never sees postings on the internet for Mexico, and then someone (who likes to dress up dogs in bee costumes ) emailed me some contact info for a uni that needed new teachers. |

My first job in Mexico I got through a friend who had a contact. Disastrous and neither the friend nor the contact is a friend or contact any longer. |

I teach at a bilingual school in Honduras right now. Found it on teachabroad.com. |

I'm wondering what websites people use to advertisements online? Or are you looking in local papers? |

My friend's cousin used to study at the school that I work in now. She gave me the email address of the school saying "British people work there, maybe you can get a job..." Without much hope, I sent the headmaster an email asking if there were any jobs. He said "Nope, but come in for a chat anyway".
I did, and at the end of our chat he said "Great, when can you start?".
I was lucky to get an EFL job in a bilingual school. As so often seems the case in Latin America, it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. |

Seeing as this has come up yet again, I thought I'd revive this old post.

TEFL.com often has Latin American jobs. Dave's gets some Mexico jobs. englishjobmaze, Tesall.com and esljobfeed are not bad places to look. |

I recently found my boss's email address on Dave's.. I just e-mailed her asking if she needed any teachers..
A couple of days later I taught my first class here in Buenos Aires.

I saw an ad on an internet site (not Dave`s) for a university job located a few blocks away from my apartment. I applied and got the job. That was almost seven years ago. Just a matter of luck, I guess.
This place has gone through some changes (for the worse recently)---bureaucracy rules as is the case every where in this country...but still here. |
