SIM card options for Mexico

What company sells the best SIM CARD in Mexico (with prepay).

In the US, I chose T-mobile, because it was easy, cheap and nationwide, including anytime minutues available at any 7-11 in the form of a top up voucher.

What would the Mexican equivalent be?

I bought a SIM card for Telcel before I came to Mexico, which I buy prepaid cards to use. It works fine and is cheap to use for calls within Mexico and cheap for my Mexican students & friends to call me.
However, calling the US is exorbitantly expensive, so for that I got a phone and monthly calling plan from Verizon called North America's Choice. I have a US-based phone number so it is a regular local or long distance call for people calling from the US, but the call rings me down here. I am actually roaming on Telcel's system so I have service any place that Telcel does. It is kind of a PITA to have two phones.

I hear Telcel from a lot of people is the best bet, but is that really the best option for around the country travel in Mexico?

I mean I don't need a company that specializes in long distance rates or focuses on calls back to the US.

Instead, I'm looking for quality and price, and to use my phone only to make local Mexico to Mexico calls and send local SMS.

Is my best bet still TelCel?

Or would the other options do better? Movistar? Iunacell?

Not 100% sure but I think this is your only choice if you plan to move about the country a lot. Telcel is extensive though there are still many remote areas of zero coverage, so I noticed in the Guerrero Sierra.

Guy is right. Telcel is the only one with "nationwide coverage" although many claim that on their TV commercials. It's not the cheapest. In general cellular service sucks and in expensive in Mexico compared to other countries. But Telcel is my only option and I still have no reception on some of my mountain travels.

Here in Yucatan it depends on where you are in relation to the towers. There are areas out in the country and in smaller villages where there's no cell phone reception.
