Hello Everyone!
I thought I would post this for anyone considering accepting a position with American Language School. I began working with them in July 2005 and am currently still employed by them.
American Language School is probably the best employer I have had in Japan. The initial training period is very thorough and gives you some great preparation for beginning to teach. You also observe the teacher you will be replacing for 1 week which is really helpful!
Every year there is a seminar held by ALS for the teachers which is full of new ideas, teaching strategies and fun activities! It is a big company with almost 100 English teachers but the big guys at the top never forget your name. Its a really good feeling.
I cannot vouch that your experience will be as great as mine has been. It will most likely depend on whether your placed in a branch school or franchise school and the relationship you have with your respective manager. The Head Office people are always available for support and can always be counted on for aid.
