BELTA: Bogus English Language Teaching Certificate
SS: Students
TTT: Teacher Talking Time
PE (Pavement Engineer): An unemployed streetwise male from Istanbul
DOS: Director of Studies
TOS: Teacher who hopes to be DOS one day
TEFLER: A native speaker of English who does not have much chance of finding a decent job in the UK
TARZAN: A good looking young Turkish guy who does not speak English but tries to communicate with English speaking women.
DUMPY: Down going middle-class, middle-aged EFL teacher who has little hope left
LEVENT: (Usually) A dodgy Turkish boss of an English Dershane in Istanbul, who has money and American accent; An expensive area in Istanbul where you might have to pay up to �8 for a scotch and soda or a beer.
