Does anyone else think this is just plain silly?

Hacettepe University professor calls for "train mescit"
A well-known professor from Ankara's Hacettepe University has used the official web site of the Turkish Republic's Train Line (TCDD) to call for "mescits" or small prayer spaces to be set aside for people wishing to perform their prayers on the Turkish train system.
TCDD General Director Suleyman Karaman responded to the request by saying "You cannot face Mecca on a train. If people are having trouble saying their prayers on the train, they should consider different forms of travel." The professor, Alparslan Ozyazici, is well known for his public crusade against alcohol use in Turkey, and for articles published in religiously-oriented magazine and newspaper across the country. In letter to the TCDD web site, Professor Ozyazici related the difficulty he and a friend had during a train trip from Ankara to Istanbul finding an appropriate place to pray in the wagon of the Fatih Express.

Surely it would be far more sensible to stick with a bar. |

Those bars on the Anatolian trains are well nice, pretty cheap, too. The European Sleepers don't have bars. But a few Efes extras have always sorted me out. |

I once took a 46 hour train journey to Diyarbakir. I was well trashed by the time I got there. |

Efes Extra and the TCDD go hand in hand. Stock up before boarding. Ever notice that there's always a bevvy shop outside every train station in Turkey? |

Have you ever seen the facilities for prayer on Saudi Arabian Airlines B747's ?
This despite the fact that travellers are exempt from the usual requirements to pray. |
