Hello!!!! I am a 22 year old Canadian girl hoping to leave for Asia this coming May. I have a B.A. and my TESL training.
I would reallyyyy lovee some suggestions on where to go!!! Im really open to any suggestions.. butttt...
This is what Im looking forin this order:
1) Safety (As I am planning on going soloand my mother might have a heart attack.)
2) Income (Would like a fairly lucrative salary, with holidays- who wouldn't)
3) Sun and Beaches!!!!
4) Party City/Town
Am I being too picky???
I would REALLY appreciate ANY comments!!!
Thanks so much! |

Kuala Lumpur is a nice spot. However, you're not qualified for the lucrative wage and holidays you seek. You can get a job at a language school and work your way up. My best advice to you is to stay home for another year and get a B.Ed. It will open many more doors for you. |

Satisfying all your criteria is difficult. Saint's suggestion seems to be a good one, however.
If you are willing to forgo some of your stipulations then Japan is a good choice as far as safety, salary (relatively-speaking) and nightlife are concerned. The beach aspect is one area where you are likely to be disappointed though unless you hit the jackpot and score a job in Okinawa (very slim chances of doing that without any rites-of-passage on the mainland though).
China and Korea are minefields as far as almost all your requirements are concerned.
Thailand has the sun and the nightlife but the salary and, in some places, the safety aspects might not be up to scratch.
Cambodia - I'd forget about that one for now.
Laos has none of the above.
I don't know anything about Taiwan but if you post your questions on the Taiwan Forum you may get some helpful responses.
The General Asia Forum is a little dead. |

Please define "lucrative" with some numbers. One man's treasure is another man's pocket change.
Meanwhile, you might want to consider climate as a prerequisite for choosing where to go. Japan, for example, has all four seasons in their spendor, from minus 30 degrees C in the north during winter to nearly 40 degrees C in Okinawa during summer. |

Hi Kelly,
I started out in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
It is safe, good money, and is close to Kenting (Google it) there are LOTS of Canadians down there and from your post it would be perfect for you.
If you have any questions about the place you can contact me, I lived there 3 years and can give you the contact for my old school too.
take care. |
