I'd like to go the "Wild East" (Poland) for one year plus. A polish
friend of mine (who's an English teacher) proposed teaching German in
a language school for a living there.
Does anyone know if there is a qualification similar to CELTA for
German language teaching? I'm a native speaker and did two years of
German studies at university - but I don't have any teaching
experience...

I am English. Two months ago, I enrolled on a semi-intensive pre-intermediate level German language course at the Goethe Institut in Berlin. As Im sure we all know, the Goethe Institut and its teachers are numero eins - second to none when it comes to German language instruction.
Saying that, two months of three classes a week and several hundred euros later into the Goethe account, I can confirm there is no equivalent to the CELTA for German language teachers. They waffle on unprepared like so many others.
I would suggest you are already qualified. |

I know that International House Berlin run courses based on the IHC English courses which qualify you to teach German. Have a look on their training website at www.teachertraining.de
Hope this helps, good luck with your search.
