I'm interested in knowing more about this. I already have a great ESL job Sept-May in the US. I have a family tutoring position this Summer already (in exchange for room and board) and may seek more individuals. Is that visa worth the trouble/expense for three months a year? So far, I'm probably legal since they are friends and I could be considered a "guest"
PS: one postor said negative things about public school esl in the US. I have 50 great elementary kids and no problems. Through some of their families, I've got some connections in Mex now. I guess I got lucky for once.

I am also interested in this kind of visa. I almost had a freelance FM3 back in '02 but my agent lost his connection inside Migracion. I had lined up a bunch of privates/companies and they wrote supporting letters. I just kept plugging away on a tourist visa using a friend's recibos and never looked back. When I left in '03 I had seriously considered getting more legal though as I wanted to expand. Instead I went to China.

There are a few other threads here on the topic, but like any rules, they are constantly changing and you are wise to seek the current rules.

I can't help you too much at the moment as I am returning to DF by way of Bogota after 3 years in China.

We can stay in touch and network. Send me a pm and we can exchange emails.

You will be ok because you will be doing it as a guest for a short period of time. For 3 months, it would be hardly worth it to get all of the papers together.

Can you use an Independent visa while working at a public school in mexico? Or do you have to go the route of fm3?
