Is there a local government office that mediates landlord - tenant disputes in Taipei County? Danshui actually. Some friends feel they have been unjustly treated and the "landlord" refuses to meet with them, has de facto evicted them from their apartment and has their rent money and deposit as they frantically search for a place to stay. Anybody know how this situation might be resolvable?
Thanks |

| I would start by going to the foreign affairs police in Taipei County. They can probably direct you to the right place. I know of somewhere in Taipei city that is basically like a mediation, you, the other party, and someone moderating and knows the law, however, in Taipei County I am not sure. You may want to call the Ministry of Justice, they can probably direct you also, but I am not sure if anyone there speaks English. Your only other alternative is to hire a lawyer. |

Have a look at page two of this thread, the post by Plasmatron.

This one is about mediating compensation after a car crash but his information about the 調解委員會 (settlement arbitration comittee) may be useful. It seems that these are located in all areas. You just have to find your local one. Perhaps a friend or someone at your school can help now that you at least know what you are looking for.
Thanks to Plasmatron. |
