I just wondered if anyone could give me a realistic idea of how long it takes to process a residence permit.
I've been advised not to take my spouse (not one of the nationalities listed on the tourist visa list) to Doha until this is sorted out and would like to have a fair idea of how long it could take.

I'd say allow two months. It can be much less, but it can also be more. It mainly depends on the relationships that your PR person has with the Immigration people, and on the levels of motivation of all concerned.

It also depends on your organaisation before you go. Alot of people I worked with just got a tourist visa when they arrived, so they were processed quite quickly. Before going I applied for a six month visa and guess how long it took me to get a residence permit. Yip, stuck in Doha for 6 months.
