If you will be here long term I suggest you get an OSDE private insurance, its about ar$ 150 www.osde.com.ar

I have that (I am argentine though) and works excellent. You have access to all private clinics for free.

Hospitals are free....but sometimes the waiting time is too much, or they are overpassed with people so they cant assist you very well.

I don't mind inconveniences like long waits (unless it's an emergency and you're bleeding to death). But are the public hospitals basically okay for major stuff in the event of the unexpected -- intensive care from a car accident, chemo, heart surgery, etc...

Also, are there any major co-pays for big stuff, and if so what are they like? What kind of financial liability would you be carrying by relying on the public system? Just minor or possibly major?

Thanks ... mep
