Hi, I usually go by the name "Smee" on the Korea board. Anyway, this isn't related to teaching in Taiwan in the least, but I'm wondering if somebody could help me out.

I'll be in Kaohsiung for about a week in January. I'm looking around a few websites and I found a couple of hotels in my price range (I'm looking to spend under USD$50 per night.) I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

When I travel around Korea I usually stay in "love motels," which are extraordinarily cheap compared to tourist/business hotels (and they usually aren't advertised on the travel websites). Likewise, when I was in Taipei last a friend recommended a hotel near Ximen station that was around 1100 or 1200 NTD per night (it was a "love motel," we presumed, and wasn't advertised.) It was clean and very nice, and I'm tempted to stay there again if I'm back in Taipei.

Oh, and if possible I'd like a place that doesn't charge an extraordinary special foreigner's price. Ran into that problem in Taipei until a friend helped out.

So, anyway, anyone have any recommendations of places to stay? If not, I'll go with something I found online. Thanks.
