I was just browsing the job ads here on Dave's Cafe and noticed a job opening at an outfit called British Hills in Fukushima. I've looked at the BH web page, and it looks like an British theme resort. Seems like a unique gig, but after searching the forums on both Daves and Gaijinpot, I find little info on life as a teacher at this resort. Inquiring minds want to know. Good gig? Bad? Something in between? Other?

Any of you ever worked there, or know someone who worked there as a teacher? Feel free to PM me if you want.

British Hills is owned by the Sanno Foundation, which also owns and runs KGCC (Kanda Gaigo Gakuen, the oldest Semongakko in Japan) and Kanda International University. I knew a few people that worked at British Hills, but there a few things I know about it;

It's a major white elephant for the Sanno Foundation, though they force the KGCC students to go there (and charge them of course).

You're supposed to be British to work there, but I understand some Canadians, Aussies, and New Zealanders work there.

It's a bit isolated as there is nothing else remotely nearby (good skiing though).

Most of the furniture there was built by English carpenters, except the chairs which are from the Hitchcock chair company in the USA, which makes chairs in the old English style.

The place is a combination theme park and somewhat serious attempt at creating an English learning environment within a fake 'English' environment.

Personally I wouldn't trust working for the Sanno family, but hey, who knows, might be fun.
