Let's talk about men's shoes in Peru. I'm sure most guys are not at all keen on shopping for shoes, but sometimes we just have to do it. I'm trying to decide what to take to Peru and I'll probably just wear a pair of black tennis shoes and buy something local when I get there. I'm planning on taking lots of salsa lessons at the start (which I hope will go some way to alleviate my congenital crackeritus), so I'll need some formal looking dancing shoes at least..

But what do the locals wear? Black oxford ties? Spanish riding boots with cuban heels? Leather strappy sandals? Llama skin ugg boots? Is there a 'class' aspect to shoes? Do creoles look down on people who wear 'indiginous' shoes, and do indiginous people look suspiciously at people that wear 'city shoes'?

What do the local girls like to see on men's feet? Is it possible to actually walk in them?

I guess I want One Shoe to Rule Them All, but at a pinch I might manage to lug around a spare pair if they're going to earn their keep.

Dress shoes. The normal ones, shiny that tie.

So black oxford ties everywhere? Have you ever tried walking in them? Are you talking about work shoes?

What do people wear when they actually have to walk somewhere?

Don't wear anything too fancy, such as namebrands like Nike & Adidas, or you may be walking around in your bare-feet!
