|
|
I have a BSc(Hons) Environmental Protection Technology which was effectively a chemistry and engineering degree. I also got a CELTA (B) last year.
I have been teaching science in Thailand to secondary year students for the last 3 years or so. In addition to that I have tutored and taught various university students and local business men over the last four years.
I also did a short stint in Korea.
What if any options are available with my experience. I'm kind of kick myself now that I taught mainly science since it seems to be limiting me employment wise.
Should I return to Korea and study a MA in ?????? maybe TESOL for two or three years part time?
Any advice would be appreciated. |

This may explain why you haven't received any responses to your applications... as per your other thread.
If you plan to stay in TEFL, then the obvious thing is to get an MA if you can, and more related experience.

It's frustrating really.
I effectively teach English for a specific goal rather than simply learning a language.
My best 15 year old students can write excellent lab reports. They can explain what they have learnt clearly orally and in writingn. They can even apply critical thinking to problems and produce clear well written thought out answers.
It doesn't count as experience towards teaching English though.
Bloody shame really.
Looks like I may have to crawl back to Korea and slog it out there for a few years.
I guess the wife will get to experience snow then.
THanks for the help. |

That's good. Most of us teach English... just because.
Have you applied to teach EFL in med schools? |

I fear that medical schools may be even more fixated on paper credentials. The Gulf, in particular, tends to require them.
