Hey all!
I have recently returned home from teaching English in Chile, and I am looking for a ESL teaching job in the Barrie, Ontario, Canada area. Does anyone know of a place? Or even something in regards to private tutoring? I would be really appreciated!
Thanks |

I'm sorry, is that a joke? Maybe a parody of the Toronto thread?
Look up language schools in the yellow pages. There can't possibly be more than one or two.
There is probably a chronically underfunded LINC programme class somewhere that will allow you to volunteer with them (possibly only if you are girl, though).
Barrie is hardly a hub for immigrants looking to better their lives or for foreign students who need to improve their English in order to better their lives in their home country. That's the vast majority of people that you teach in Canada. Where do people who fit that description tend to go in Ontario? hmmmmm....where could they go, if not Barrie? Here's a hint: You won't find them in the middle of a forest that's bigger than a Japanese prefecture, either.
P.S. "I would be really appreciated." means that others would appreciate you. "I would really appreciate it." suggests that you would thank others for their help. |

Thanks for the advice!
Yeah.. I've done all the looking and searching! I thought, maybe if someone knew something else I didn't than that would help. But thanks for the hint!
ps - no .. it wasn't a joke... just some people don't know Barrie and might know of places close to here, or even in Toronto! You never know. So I thought to be a little more detailed in the description! |

If google and the yellow pages don't help, then I suggest you go down to the immigration Centre in Barrie.
They have a truck load of info for the local immigrants including ESL programs. What I am trying to say, is that once you ascertain that there is an ESL Program, you can then ask the staff there how to go about applying for a job, providing that you have the desired qualifications.
Regards,

Thanks Dude!
Actually, yes. That was my next step ... the Immigration Center. There's YMCA here, so I'll be heading how there. (that is after all this snow goes away) Thanks alot. I will definitely check it out there!
Thanks again |
