I've been looking into teaching in Istanbul, and it seems that academic K-12 schools require teachers to have a B.A. in English literature to teach ESL... Is this true? I have an M.A. in ESL and public school teaching certification- am I really not qualified to teach at one of the colleges? Anyone who might know about this, I'd love your advice! Thanks... |

No.This is Turkey. I think for high school yes. However I know one school where the head of English in high school has no English degree. Most of my friends teach at primary or middle school and their degrees are in a wide variety of subjects. This year I was offered a job at a high school. They told me that for the paperwork they would write I was a student counsellor(my degree is in Psych). There are ways round the paperwork. |
