I am very seriously thinging of relocating down there in about year and plan to teach English. When I arrive I will have no experience (except tutoring ESL), but will have completed a one year post grad TESL cert at Cal State Long Beach. I guess there are probably faster ways to do a TESL, but since I am finishing my BA here, have child care and financial aide it just seems to make sense to stay here to do it.

My question is how do you like teaching in Villahermosa? What is the pay like? What is the likelihood of finding a job without experience? I have been there a few times, so I realize it is hot and humid but I have family there (my son's grandparents)

I will be in my late thirties, which I thought might be an issue, but looking over the forum this seems to be irrelevant.

My brother-in-law lives in Villahermosa. He is a PEMEX engineer and takes English classes. He tells me that there are all the major chains schools in Villa. I also imagine there are some private colegios that would like to have you teach and might give you discounted or free tution for your son (you didn't mention how old he is). There is a regular poster who lives in Villa, I think mapache or something like that. But we are all on vacation now so you might not get another response until after the 2nd.
Good Luck!
