Is it a new immigration requirement to submit academic transcripts with the visa application? I never had to do this before and don't even have any transcripts. I just have certificates of all my qualifications. My employer is saying this is not enough.

No, it isn't a new requirement. I've just started at my third school and every time, I've had to provide transcripts.

I think you've just been lucky to date.

If you contact your uni or college, they should be able to provide transcripts (for a fee) even if they have to go deep into their archives (as they did with me).

Thanks hkteach. Funny how I've never been asked for transcripts to date. My degree cert and TEFL cert were all that I've ever had to show. When applying for a range of positions including NET, there has never been any inkling that transcripts have been needed. In any case, why would transcripts be needed on top of original certificates?

As I said earlier, you've been very lucky poof - it seems you've managed to have your applications processed by people with a bit of common sense.

But you know how they are here re. bits of paper. They mean everything - even when you're being interviewed for admission to Primary 1 ! (yes that's right all you newbies............. interviews for admission to your neighbourhood primary school, in your first year of school - the kids even get coached for those interviews, but that's another story - don't get me started!!!!!!!!!!)

I think the rationale may be along the lines of wanting to make sure that you've actually studied English and thus have some idea of what you're doing when you get into a school here (then again, all the local English teachers here majored in English didn't they ?? and look how they teach it). Yes , I'm feeling a bit tetchy tonight!

As I said, I've had to produce not only original certificates and degrees at my first interview with EMB, but each time I've gone to a new school - and sign the same forms over and over again (even though EMB has all this stuff on file somewhere). My degree had never been out of its frame till I came here, now I can't frame it because somebody will want to see it again pretty soon.

Good luck with the transcripts. You might as well get copies as you're going to keep needing to produce them.
