I've decided to work in Taiwan next. I'm favouring coastal/beach areas such as: Ilan, Heng Chun, Kenting, Alishan, Hualien, Jio-Fen, Jin-shan, Jiao-Shi, etc.

I'm hanging around South East Asia until the right job comes along. I've noticed that Schools don't tend to advertise for teacher until they need them ASAP. So I must be prepared to start ASAP. Not the best situation to be in.

Is January a good month to be looking for a job in Taiwan? Are there specific months when more schools are recruiting more teachers?

How long do teachers typically wait for the right job?

There are no bad months to look for teaching jobs in Taiwan. The peak periods are right after Chinese New Year (which is not too far away) and June/July/August.

I don't think there'd be many jobs in Jio-fen and I know there aren't many in Kenting. The hours can be harder to come by on the East Coast.

Teachers have as much time as there visa and funds allow to look for jobs. There is no typical waiting time. Last time I returned to Taiwan it took three days to find a job and I returned just before the new year period. There are many more jobs around than just those advertised on the internet.

Good luck.
