I posted this on moscowteachers.com, where traffic is pretty slow. Since I'm reading this forum as well, I thought I'd ask here.

I've been living in Moscow since October, and was here for three months in 2005. I'm currently studying Russian language, and plan to continue living here for at least another year after this one.

I'm interested in beginning to teach. My eventual goal (I hope) is to move on to University level teaching (edit to clarify: in theatre, in the USA, after getting a PhD. though a university level english job would be fine too...). I've got a BA from Cornell University, and an MFA in Dramaturgy from the Harvard/American Repertory Theatre joint program with Moscow Art Theatre School. Needless to say, my focus is drama and dramatic literature.

I do not currently have a CELTA or other TEFL certification. I do have some teaching experiance at Harvard. I've TA'd courses, in which I aided in class and graded all the written work, including giving suggestions to improve writing. I've also designed and led my own section of an intro to drama course.

I'd love any advice or leads on how to gain experience and become a desirable candidate. Since I'm not TEFL certified, I'm wary about just jumping into a class room. I'd be very glad to have some experience TAing, or perhaps part time work accompanied with some teacher training. And of course, any help in defraying the cost of a CELTA would be wonderful. Probably my dream job would be working with University level students, or perhaps coaching high school students who are hoping to study abroad in America for college.
