For those lovers of older music finishing that line should not present too much of a problem, now can we keep the ball rolling and think of other season related songs ?
On a related topic I had a pretty crap time generally even without the flu,why is it such a non-event in this country esp in Izmir ? For one day of the year if we could put aside our differences close down those divisions and sit down together and have a drink and bathe in the warmth of humankind . A silly dream I know, but one can only hope that day will come to pass when xpats who work along side each other will try to be nice to each other at this time of year .
Anyway back to the song ,find the next line and the artist ,who's first? then they can throw in another song and repeat the process. |

ALMOST CUT MY HAIR
by David Crosby
Almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It's gettin kinda long
I coulda said it wasn't in my way
But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
Cause I feel like I owe it to someone
Must be because I had the flu' for Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par
It increases my paranoia
Like looking at my mirror and seeing a police car
But I'm not giving in an inch to fear
Cause I missed myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone
When I finally get myself together
I'm going to get down in that sunny southern weather
And I find a place inside to laugh
Separate the wheat from the chaff
I feel like I owe it to someone

dmb is guilty of googling

A bit related ... I decided to be full of the Christmas Spirit on the 25th. Went into a local shop to purchase something... I know them there and they know me. Feeling jolly I said Merry Christmas! They looked at me rather shocked! I tried to explain what the Holiday was and why I was saying that. They expected that expression at New Years Day... Being Turks all. Finally it occurred to them that Christmas was on the 25th after they looked at a calendar. Ah...said one of the girls. Jesus' Birthday. I said hmmm... yes. And tried to be jolly. I left the shop. And continued on my way. Insisting to be jolly. And keep the Christmas spirit. Although that day was just like any other day. And all the Christmas movies were shown on New Years Day and after. Damn I miss Bing Crosbys' White Christmas.
I also think that the shop girls were a bit surprised as they know me to be Muslim yet I was celebrating Christmas Day. Also went to the mosque to do namaz on Christmas Day. And felt it was special also.
BTW I love Crosby Stills Nash and Young. |

What's-a matter you? Hey! Gotta no respect.
What-a you t'ink you do? Why you look-a so sad?

see. I told you I didn't google it. Nobody can accuse me of dishonesty.
Was it Madness my girl?
You may think those are odd choices but I have vague memories of going down to Boots one christmas with my record vouchers and buying Joe Dolce, human league and Madness My first ever multiple record buy... all 45s... but the madness was a picture disc... ok who has more of a shocker firsts when it comes to music? |

Uh-uh. It replaced 'Woman' by John Lennon, which in turn rplaced 'Imagine'; it was early 81, just after the speccy one had his last hit - the floor.
Ultravox's 'Vienna' remained at no. 2 all through this time, something I recall being distinctly annoyed at at the time. |
