I'm planning a trip to HK in September to finish a practicum for grad school. I've worked in China and Korea. I'm just wondering if it is as common to see churches in HK as it would be in a western country. I don't expect it to be anything like Korea but I don't know much about Hong Kong other than it is quite westernized.
Anyone out there who has attended or is involved in a church in Hong Kong, I'd really love some feedback. |

Yes, you will not have to go on a religious fast when living in HK; one of the redeeming features of social life in HK is that churches play a relatively big role as Christianity was actively promoted during the British rule.
Even islands have churches. In HK itself, the YMCA and the YWCA are very active too. Churches usually stand out as architectural landmarks. Even in downtown Kowloon and HK you will see houses of God. In Kowloon I would nominate a church in Nathan Rd., just opposite Kowloon Park; in Chatham Rd. is another big church, and on Garden Rd. on HK Island is the Anglican cathedral (is this appellation correct?). The YMCA in Salisbury Rd., Tsimshatsui, Kowloon, has a chapel and a social centre beside being a four-star hotel. |
