Since returning to US I seemed to have some but not many problems
reading kanji emails in Mozilla browzer of English Windows XP. Recently, been having probs...maybe due to stupid move of using AOL (hey! it's free)
hoping probs will go away when I arrive in Arab Gulf next week, but who knows.

the Jpn support works some (I can write kanji). I just think the software isnt sure , when i get mails, if it is Chinese or WHICH kanji fonts.
so question is is there a standard ENCODE used in Japan ? (i.e. 2022-JP, or
EUC-JP, auto-detect...have tried all) or should we set up a Japanese lang browzer on PC expressly to handle kanji traffic?

thanks

youneed to go to the MS site and download something called global IME There was a thread about this a while back. Do a search, and you may be able to find it.

Thanks for responding but as I said before, the fonts are in my system. ( downloaded IME long ago...how else could I type kanji as I said).
the problem is the browser recognizing the fonts. For example, many times when I select the 1022-JP encoding, kanji are displayed but not the proper ones. EUC and auto-detect setting is no better...in that case I get some ASCII type number groups.
it is aproblem of recognition. if you use a japanese OS (as i used to do) the is not a problem, but with a US windows, there are unarguably good or bad settings or some type of software or fonts conflict that must be resolved.

To view Japanese fonts, go to your browser at the top and:

View > Encoding > and select Japanese.

Make sure you have the Japanese language packs installed in your computer. Download the Global IME to type Japanese on an English OS.
