Hi all,
I'm headed over to Thailand for a month or so and I want to pick up some textbooks while I'm there. Where can I find the best selection in Bangkok?
Cheers |

Depends a bit on the EFL topic, but I like the DK bookstore in Siam Square. Some pretty niche ESP stuff there too.
For all things IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC - I think the Chulalongkorn University bookstore (near the SW corner of Siam Square) is excellent.
Both places will give you a 10% discount if you mention you are a teacher. Sometimes they'll ask for an ID to prove it (I hear), but I've never had to show anything. |

You guys are great. I love how you can ask a question these days and the answer materialises from knowledgeable people in cyberspace. It's like magic! I can't wait to go shopping!
This is irrelevant but I have to ask... TedKarma, does your kanji mean big mouth fruit? That's the only guess I could come up with. |

Close! It means "karma" - I forgot the exact literal translation/explanation, but something like:
What is - is the fruit of what was before.
Close, but anyone who know people give the exact Now someone people correct me! There is another character for karma also:
but I liked the explanation and characters better with this one.
EDIT:
Found it: " Yin Guoh" - character on the left = cause, because of
character on the right = fruit or result
Abstract, but we can get it, eh? |

It's been 3 years since I've been there, but .... the bookstore in the basement (lower level) of Seacon Square Shopping Mall (the name of which I have forgotten but it's one of the chainstore bookstores) had a HUGE range of text / academic books. |
