|
|
Greetings Forum,
Amongst the forum dwellers, some are identified by fancy monickers and others go by their actual names. Here's a question posed to each camp:
Nicknames: Why did you choose your particular handle?
Real Names: If you were to choose a nickname, what would it be?

It's my name. Don't know about a nickname...not going to think of one right now. Besides, if I ever get booted I'll have to use it to reincarnate myself.
My avatars are all of funny lookin guys. I think funny looking guys are funny.
My signature is also my name, after a fashion. |

Mine came from someone who saw nothing but good in me. Ah... he loved me well. Now, I make a concerted effort to live up to it. |

I was sorry to read that wasn't your picture, Steiner. It seems to fit. But, to be fair, I was also confused, because I read that our pictures were not acceptable as avatars. I want capergirl's avatar. It's soo cute! |

My story is really boring. Lynn is my middle name. It's easy. I've used nicknames before on the net, but when I go to log on I forget what it is. If I could do it over again, I'd use my real name but someone is using it now. Or I would choose a cute nickname with some kind of hidden joke or special meaning.
As for my pic, it's Japanese mode/actor Ikeuchi Hiroyuki. My guy resembles him. hee-hee. |

Mine is what my students called me in China. I team-taught the class with another foreigner named Mike. The students called him Mike-Laoshi. We tried to get them to just call us Jess and Mike, but they felt awkward about it. Mike and I were good friends and we started referring to each other as "Teacher Mike" and "Teacher Jess" as a joke (Laoshi means teacher in Chinese, a bunch of you already know that though). Since it was our first time teaching, we kinda got a kick out of the formality. I thought it would be appropriate here.
On other boards I post under the name of "Tsunku," who's a slightly androgenous Japanese singer from the band "Sharan Q." Their music kinda sucks but the word is fun to say. I admit, I probably don't put enough thought into these things.
Sunaru, Mao de Tongue woulda been a great name! I can't understand who would offended by that? Mao supporters?? People who are anti . . . tongue?? Or is it supposedly too sexual? pfffft. |

Mao de Tongue is a nice one. Maybe Dave didn't want the site banned in China, though. I've wanted to use one of these as my avatar:

The nickname: For those non-Canadians among us, a Caper is someone who hails from Cape Breton Island (Nova Scotia). The girl part's kind of a no-brainer (although I'm over the age of majority, so I suppose it's a little non-PC, as was pointed out to me some time ago ).
The avatar: It is supposed to be a representation of me. Plus I think it's cute. Ok, ok, truth be told, my avatar has a slightly larger, uh, "rack". *sigh* |

Well, the canuck part is because I'm an extremely patriotic Canadian. The "2112" part refers to the Rush album of the same name (err..number). It's a really tripped out album back from 1976, it's kind of spooky and it's one of my favourites. I really don't like classic rock, I'm mostly into industrial/techno, punk and classical music, but I've always really liked Rush, probably because of the incredible complexity of their music.
My current avatar is Bill Lumbergh from the movie Office Space. Never has a role been so perfectly cast...I think Gary Cole should have won an oscar for his portrayal. The avatar before that was Ricky from Trailer Park boys (a hilarious Canadian show), and before that it was Neil Peart, the drummer from Rush who I consider to be one of the best of all time. |

@khmerhit...What about the avatar? (Or is this related to the eating spiders in Cambodia story? In which case, nevermind. ) |

@CG--- Well, i selected the avatar at random... but it seems kind of appropriate for that dangling feeling we all get when we enter the Reverse Culture shock Unit. Whaddya think?
But it also fits the Cambodian munchable spider theme equally well. They really do love their spiders!!!! In fact, I tried spider wine and it was ok.
Anyway, i cant just hang around here all day . I have a busy life to lead. See ya!! |
