Curious on what students pay per month for their English classes. What do schools charge Mexican students per month in your area? |

Tuition for English classes at the university where I teach is about 2,000 pesos per semester. I think total class time per semester is something like 70-75 hours not including exams. |

My school charges $590 pesos per month for group classes (5 hours per week with 4 to 12 students) and $150 pesos per hour for private lessons. |

Language schools around DF are charging anywhere from 300 to 1500 pesos per month, on a variety of hours....usually daily classes of 90 minutes. |

My school charges $1100 pesos per month, with a minimum of five hours per week of group classes. However, they have the option of coming to more classes at no extra cost. Private classes are $120 per hour. Books are included.
My school last year in small-town Veracruz charged $450 per month for four hours a week, but there is no comparison in quality. They had to buy their books on top of that. |

How would you describe and compare both?
Over $1000 seems high, but in Mexico City... maybe that's why. |

Different scales for me, depending on what they want. The English club is 500 pesos for one month and meets once a week. No free weekend workshop or extra time with the teacher. 3 times a week is 1300 pesos.
Access to teacher during office hours as well as weekend workshop for additional assistance.Books are free. The biggest jump in my enrollment has been the ladies attending to better thier lives and work toward better occupations. They are on a scholarship provided by the Mexican government and a private trust. They pay only a 100 peso "materials fee"
per month. I get 850 pesos per student for two days a week plus special workshop access hours just for them. Not getting rich by any means but I sleep well at night. |

And my students complain that our book costs them $250 pesos and we use it for 3 semesters(4month semesters)!!!!!
I think English classes are expensive. The only major school in my town in an Ingls Individual and they definately charge too much for what they are selling. There are a couple of other independant schools staffed by Mexicans but I haven't looked into how much they charge. I'm toying with the idea of opening a school that gives classes for small children, I would charge 50 pesos an hour for twice weekly romper-room type lessons in groups of 6 to 12 students. The kids would need to bring a bag, with crayons, scissors, a glue stick, all other materials would be included in the cost. |

The school in Veracruz didn't teach English-they preferred babysitting, even with adult classes. Sure, the students learned some, especially in my classes, but they did not learn as much as students at my current school do. Different administration, standards and expectations. |

The language institute I worked at charges about $20,000 pesos per year. Because they have an open system, the students can take as many classes as they want, as well as use of the computer lab. The students also have to buy their books for each level, $460 pesos.
In the primaria/secundaria where I teach, we charge about $88,000 pesos per school year. We are one of the more expensive schools in Mexico City. |
