Anyone had any trouble driving here on an International?
or trouble getting the local licence?

The issue is : does the fact of having a residence permit mean the International driving licence is no longer valid?

It's still valid, but it's not acceptable in Qatar. If you are a resident, you need a local license.

Bring your PR officer with you when you apply.

I was driving on my international for about 4 months, but then found out I was driving illegally, since I had my residency permit already. I found out I needed a local license on Monday night and I had it in my hand by 11am Tuesday morning... peice of cake! I paid a guy 50 ryals to wait in line for me and I went off about my day, he called me when it was all done. The easiest thing I have ever done in the Gulf!

Hope that helps.

Oops... you're right. I forgot to mention that. You need to give 3 photos.

Cheers, VS.
