URGENT! I am hoping for some information as quickly as possible on EF Bogor...I am having some difficulty understanding the contract from Mr. Gusti! Do we have to find and pay for our own housing? Does the school provide a teacher's house (sharing with other teachers?) Is the salary of 6.500.000 for the first three months allow you to survive? (after 3 months the wage goes up to 7.000.000 Is there anyone out there that is working in Bogor for EF. I would appreciate hearing from you.

I would have thought emailing Mr Gusti would be your best hope for answering the question about the housing.

6.500.000 stinks. Bogor is just as expensive as Jakarta, where Mr Gusti's Swara Group pays rather more for teachers.

you can survive off of 6.500.000 - 7 million. it isn't exactly "alot" by any means but when i worked for ef, that was my starting salary too and i could do it. i was living in Jakarta, going out alot, spending on stupid stuff, and i still got through the month, so doing it in bogor should be even easier as there isn't much there to spend it on. there are however some good things to see and do just outside the city.
can't really comment on the housing ( but i will anyway)..i would assume its a shared teachers house but don't quote me on that.

bring the raingear...its really wet there right now
...theres a restaurant there that has some really good baked pasta dishes but i can't remember the name of it. i am so hungry right now...........................i don't know why i just typed that

7 million doesnt sound very much to me. But as long as you dont like the night life, which Bogor doesnt have anyway, you will be fine.
Btw, how much does EF pay in Jakarta these days?

it isn't very much, but new teachers that come here and get ef contracts can expect this amount to a ballpark figure for a starting salary. i think pondok indah and mentang ( along with others) do pay more, but the majority do start out in this range

i haven't worked for ef for a few years but i think my info is still accurate.
.....it probably isn't though

Drunken comments from the semi-literate happy_me aside, Bogor is a nice place. There are high class Indonesian schools that pay well, and TBI has a place that I think pays more than EF

Bogor was a nice place some years ago. It will always be for those who like nearly daily thunderstorms year round Smile - but the traffic, mostly public transport minibuses, now clog the main streets and traffic is worse (or certainly just as terribly bad as Jakarta). Then there is the ever growin number of scoff-law motorcyclists who will run you down as soon as look at you - and they don't look at you! Funny place Bogor: all of the disadvantages of the big city, and none of the advantages. Very nice botanical garden, but hardly worth a year out of your life to see on occasional Sundays.

EF is known as 'English F*cked' among the local ESL crowd and is said to be the only school where you have to pay them to work. Avoid them at all cost. Any branch with a recruitment email address 'HRDswara@something or other" (or something along these lines) is pure poison. They rarely remove their ad from the 'Jakarta Post', such is their rapid rate of turnover. I know tha this Gusti fellow is the main toad of a Mr. Agus, a young and greedy fellow who will not hesitate to work a green foreigner to distraction for nothing but his own profit. You will work long hours plus Saturdays, never have enough money and come to despise Indonesia. Work anywhere else - but ask on this forum again before you sign anything. Indoneisa is fraught with bad ESL schools and exploitive owners

wow...voltaire..let me say that it is my honor to reply to the post of what might be the angriest man alive......from this thread and the others you posted on, you very well might hate every school that has ever existed ..this is awesome...so much hatred..................i'll go out on a limb and say that these schools have the same passion and vigor in their feelings for you. i would love to know where you are working now.

on another note...cmorris, if you are out there, i'm curious to know if you have made a decision to come to indo or not. don't let posters like this guy( sorry, could be a girl) fool you..its just one persons' opinion

oh, its a pattern alright. a pattern of what i can only assume are sub-par "teachers" getting fired from various schools and then turning to this forum to vent their anger, as if bashing the schools here will act as some kind of therapy....hope it works, but its getting old

.. in loving memory of papillon

If anyone wants to know what the reality of working at EF Bogor, perhaps the most logical place to start is with currently serving teachers at the school. Send me a PM and I'll make sure it gets passed on.

Hey, who are you to say what's getting old or not? You, my friend have ideas above your station. What's your problem with papillon anyhow?

1. hey, you know who i am... I AM BEEFER... and what allows you to come on here and try to to tell me what i can and can't express on this forum? its not my fault that you came to jakarta and took the easiest job imaginable and then found out that YOU COULDN'T DO IT.....ooooh, the city is too dirty....oooh the guys just want to get laid all the time.....ooooh theres no culture here...ooooh girlie bars..........ooooh male chauvinists live here too ....GET OVER IT.... you are a failure...your marraige was a failure, your first job at ef ( the easiest in indo) was a failure, and you will fail at your "international school" job as well...think about it, your life, for the next few months( many months actually...until your job starts) will consist of taking what will eventually be the same boring walk down the same boring beach and trying to kill the "days in paradise" by questioning my opinion on this forum.......sad
2. i have ideas above my station?!?!?!?!/....... what the f**k is that supposed to get at?..... do i not meet certain requirements to post my opinion here???.......you are insane...you are a sad, insane failure.
3. whats my problem with papillon????? .......my problem with paps is that i know who he is and he came on here spewing lies about schools and the people who hated him there........nothing of what he wrote was true.... when i let him know that i knew who he was ( and proved it) he disappeared ( how strange)...but did i really owe you that explaination??

please don't question my right to express myself here as i don't yours.
you depress me now...usually i laugh at your stupidity...but even this is too much

oh yes, i will excuse you as this is usually the time when you say you have to go eat some seafood, or something stupid like that

good luck guard dogging

...i still don't know what that means
